As a field instructor with Evoke Therapy Programs, you’ll be part of a passionate and supportive team of co-workers and managers, tasked with bringing your best self forward to help guide young people on therapeutic journeys in the high desert wilderness of Southern Utah.
Prospective staff must first complete a week-long orientation in the wilderness before being offered a full Field Instructor position. This will help determine if the position is right for you. We’ll teach you, guide you, and help you step out of your comfort zone.
On a typical day in the wilderness, you may be guiding your group through activities such as morning meditation, yoga, therapy groups, hiking, activities and games, stargazing, storytelling, open-fire cooking, and providing a safe and welcoming space for students to engage in their own activities during downtime.
You’ll learn to step up as a leader to help others grow; though this can be challenging, many of our employees say it’s one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives. Outside Magazine chose Evoke as a “best place to work” five years in a row for health and wellness, and we’re the only outdoor wilderness program selected.
Evoke offers programs for teens ages 13–17, young adults ages 18–28+, and families struggling with difficulties like trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, defiance, and substance abuse. Evoke provides therapy and healing from these circumstances, following a proven approach that creates lasting positive change.
First aid and CPR certifications are required, and further wilderness experience, education, and certifications are preferred. Applicants must be 21 years old, or 19 for summer seasonal work in Entrada.

Wilderness Field Instructor, 2022
It was a pretty magical experience to be part of this company… What beautiful, inspiring and unique people wilderness attracts, I loved my fellow employees and was constantly inspired, challenged and supported by them.
We’re allowed to adjust, adapt and utilize our own unique style, approach and creativity to meet the students where they’re at and encouraged to have fun! It was a relief to be understood, heard and acknowledged when I made a mistake vs shamed and lectured at. At every level of the company, Evoke tries to walk the talk of what we strive to do with our clients. Management utilizes the skills and unconditional attitude used in the field to support employees, this is not always perfect by any means, but is something Evoke strives for. Working as a field staff was an experience that completely changed my life in such a powerful magical way, if you like me care about personal growth this job is a life changing opportunity that will mold you into a better person guaranteed!
