Located at the most popular trailhead to the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York, the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) is dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and responsible recreational use of the New York State Forest Preserve and other parks, wild lands, and waters vital to its members and chapters.
Working at Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) is working for wilderness. ADK is dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and responsible recreational use of the New York State Forest Preserve and other parks, wild lands, and waters vital to our members and chapters. From educating day-hikers to lobbying state legislators, our staff work year-round to ensure that this mission is upheld.
We have four locations in New York State—our Member Service Center in Lake George, the Adirondak Loj & Heart Lake Program Center near Lake Placid, Johns Brook Lodge (JBL) in the backcountry of the Adirondack High Peaks region, and our Government Affairs office in Albany. The majority of seasonal positions work at the Heart Lake Program Center, which is famous as a historical site and for hosting the most popular trailhead in New York State. Seasonal staff work here alongside our team of full-time staff to educate the public, assist guests, and promote ADK and its mission. Our other locations handle membership, development, and advocacy, among other duties vital to our organization.
ADK encourages the involvement of all people in its mission and activities; its goal is to be a community that is comfortable, inviting, and accessible.
The Heart Lake Program Center is the home base for the education and field programs along with the Adirondak Loj (Lodge).
